Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathy (TSE) Tissue Collection
APHA is able to offer a unique selection of TSE reference tissues in support of research groups working towards the development and validation of TSE diagnostic tests.
Our service includes the provision of premium material from the TSE Biological archive generated and maintained by APHA.
The Archive receives and stores a range of animal tissues collected from both UK field cases and experimental programmes. It is the most extensive collection of TSE tissues worldwide and operates to a quality management system compliant with ISO 9001:2015.
The provenance of samples held in the TSE archive has been determined by the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) reference laboratory for TSE, based at APHA. Many positive cases have been confirmed with immunohistochemistry and western-blot methodology, performed under ISO 17025.
For more information about the Biological Archive please visit the TSE International Reference Laboratory website TSEglobalNet at: https://science.vla.gov.uk/tseglobalnet/
