RBF3615 Chick Embryo Liver cells (CEL)
Overview
Chick Embryo Liver (CEL) cells are a suspension of primary liver cells prepared from 13–17 day old SPAFAS chick embryos. The cells are supplied as a live cell suspension in specialised growth medium containing Earle’s MEM supplemented with 10% foetal bovine serum (FBS), 10% tryptose phosphate broth (TPB), 2 mM L-Glutamine, and antibiotics. The typical seeding density is based on packed cell volume (0.2–0.4 ml per 100 ml suspension). As a primary cell preparation supplied as a suspension, cell stability is time and temperature dependent, and cells should be seeded immediately upon receipt to maintain viability and optimal performance. Under recommended culture conditions cells typically form a confluent monolayer within 48–72 hours and may be sub cultured.
