RAF3740 Chick Embryo Fibroblasts (CEF)
Overview
Chick Embryo Fibroblast (CEF) cells are a suspension of primary fibroblast cells prepared from 9–11 day old SPAFAS chick embryos using controlled trypsin dissociation in accordance with APHA standard operating procedures. The cells are supplied as a ready to use suspension at a seeding density of ≥ 1 × 10⁶ cells/ml in growth medium (MEM with Earle’s salts, foetal bovine serum, L glutamine and HEPES).
CEF cells are available with or without gentamicin, allowing flexibility to meet different laboratory requirements. As a live primary cell preparation supplied as a suspension, cell stability is time and temperature dependent, and cells should be processed and seeded immediately upon receipt to maintain viability and optimal performance. Under recommended culture conditions, cells typically form a confluent monolayer within 48–72 hours and may be sub cultured.
