Overview

Bovine prion protein (PrP) monoclonal antibody R145/20/1/2/1is an IgG1, developed for the detection of PrP in bovine and ovine species. The antibody is produced from a mouse–rat heterohybridoma, generated by fusion of rat splenocytes immunised with a synthetic PrP peptide and mouse NS 1 myeloma cells. It is supplied freeze dried, affinity purified using Protein G, and standardised to a concentration of 1 mg/ml by BCA assay.

The antibody has been validated for immunohistochemical detection of PrP in formalin fixed, paraffin embedded brain and lymphoid tissues, demonstrating strong specific labelling in BSE positive bovine brain and classical and atypical scrapie positive ovine tissues, with low levels of non specific background staining, available in conjugated form on request.
